Dr. Harold R. Lee

The author was born and raised in Clairton, Pennsylvania. He completed pre-medical studies at the University of Pittsburgh, then studied physical therapy at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. After passing the licensing examinations, he was called into service in 1943. He was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program. He saw combat service in the European Theater. At the end of hostilities, he attended the University of Oxford Medical School during the fall 1945 term. Family illness interrupted his return. He entered Lincoln Chiropractic College, and served two years on the faculty after graduation. He then entered private practice for forty-five years.

He was active in the Dade County Chiropractic Society in Florida, and served as President in 1957 and 1958. He also served as a Director of the Florida Chiropractic Association and was appointed Chairman of the Insurance Relations Committee. During his tenure that committee produced the first researched study that demonstrated the favorable cost and outcome effectiveness of chiropractic care of workmen's compensation sprains and strains as compared to conventional therapy. Although intended to be a state of Florida publication, over 100,000 copies were ordered by associations in just about every state and a few foreign countries for use as an educational and legislative tool.
