Our health care crisis is a very vast and complex issue, and you have done an excellent job encapsulating it into a presentation that can inform and
educate the public.

I recently had the opportunity to read Dr. Harold R. Lee’s book “The Health Care Crisis.” The opening relates the facts and figures that should impress any reasonable person with the gravity of the situation. Health care expenses stand to devastate our economy, particularly as the Baby Boomers reach the age of eligibility for Medicare and Social Security. Dr. Lee goes on to explain the differences between a proactive approach to wellness and the reactive paradigm of sickness treatment.
Many books do a good job of discussing the significance of lifestyle factors, but very few introduce the importance of nervous system integrity. Dr. Lee does so early in the book, setting the foundation for discussions of regarding exercise, nutrition, and other choices that contribute to health.
A major strength of this book is the underlying philosophy which is woven throughout the work—a message of choice and empowerment. Perhaps the best description of Dr. Lee’s approach is articulated in the subtitle—The enigma that is no mystery.
Pat II of the book contains 153 referenced, short excerpts from journals and news sources. This is an excellent resource for patient education. A comprehensive index makes it easy to locate topics of interest.
I’m happy to recommend Dr. Lee’s The Health Care Crisis to anyone interested in making sense of the current health care crisis—and practical, proactive strategies for promoting health.
